Makers Program
Powered by our Makers
Traditionally, small businesses haven’t participated in the corporate commercial market because the barriers to entry are insurmountable. Porter is working to remove these barriers by supporting makers and businesses that serve and reflect our projects’ communities.
Our roster of small businesses and those that are BIPOC-, LGBTQIA+-, veteran-, and women-owned lend to a comprehensive portfolio of products to source from for unique projects with positive impact. For more information on how we can work with you to source from our roster of Makers, contact us.
54kibo
Born in Ghana, raised in South Africa, and now living in Brooklyn, New York, 54kibo founder Nana always loved the unique contemporary African design items she found on trips home. But she realized these designs were largely hard to access globally. Nana launched 54kibo in 2018 along with a team committed to sharing the endless creativity in Africa and its Diaspora.
Bolé Road
New York based designer Hana Getachew started Bolé Road Textiles out of a desire to merge her love of Ethiopian handwoven fabrics with her career in interior design. During her eleven years at a major New York City architecture firm Hana realized her affinity for vibrant colors and graphic patterns was a direct result of her upbringing in a home filled with amazing traditional Ethiopian textiles. Her designs for Bolé Road are an homage to that cultural inheritance and a reflection of her own personal global modern aesthetic.
GOODEE
After founding the brand WANT Les Essentiels in 2007, brothers Byron and Dexter Peart set out on a new venture, GOODEE, dedicated to offering sustainable solutions for modern living. The pair decided to work exclusively with artisans and products that make a positive social or environmental impact. GOODEE curates products that bring together the values of good design, good people, and good purpose.

Her current mixed media work is based in an intuitive art practice.
Marie Burgos
Born and raised in Paris, Marie draws inspiration for her lighting, furniture and decorative accessories from both French design and her family’s native home of Martinique. With a deep appreciation of mid-century modern furniture, Marie has taken the clean lines that defined the iconic designs of that movement and given them a luxurious new simplicity. Her use of Feng Shui, of which she is a certified master, always plays an important role in bringing a harmonious balance.
Nomadory
With an artisan approach and care about who, how, and where their products are made, Nomadory seeks the most ethical factories, focuses on their expertise, and foster deep personal relationships with makers from around the world to share the stories of where their products come from, creating transparency in the process.
OneFortyThree
When OneFortyThree founders Logan and Roxy initially began crafting handmade furniture and lighting for their own Nevada studio, interest grew from friends and family, and what was once a passion project became a business. Inspired by the desert and their love for industrial design, they still manufacture each piece by hand, remaining committed to craft and staying close to the process.
SIN
SIN meticulously hand-builds and crafts American-made home goods that make you feel good. In 2006, founder Virginia Sin left LA for Brooklyn to develop her first product line. Today, her plates are used at Eleven Madison Park, and her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Goop, and the New York Times. Working to continually broaden her design horizons, Virginia has focused her recent attention on redefining ceramic coils, translating her graphic designs into weave structures and challenging the limitations of clay in the lighting industry, in hopes to bring some extra warmth into the world.
