Setting the Mood: Autumn Edition

Autumn has awakened. There’s something ethereal about this season. The warm colors, the scents, the complex textures, the golden light that grows richer as we transition from summer to winter. There’s no doubt about it—the magic of Fall ignites the creative spirit.

My name is Mia and I am Porter’s Creative Experience Director. Celebrating culture and creativity is integral to the Porter experience. I want to invite you into the room with us and share an inside peek into the seasonal trends, inspiration, and decor that we love.

I’m excited to highlight some of our recent finds that embody that perfect autumnal je ne sais quoi. Some of the treasures we sourced are recent product launches, and others are vintage beauties that complement the season to perfection. Even better? Many of the items come from the wildly talented business owners in our Makers Program.

Inspiration awaits—and you just might find something to FALL for (sorry…I had to).

The Goal: Nesting

We are so excited about the new Marie Burgos lighting collection. The sleek bulbous shape is both sophisticated and unique. The amber color creates warmth in any space.

This amazing Swedish vintage vase with a brown mottled glaze was made in the 1970s by Claes Thell. We love the natural pattern, texture, and shape of the piece.

We love the style of this Italian mid-century floor lamp with parchment shades. It’s the perfect balance of smooth and angular. It exudes light and warmth.

The Inspiration: Black Market Vintage

We have fallen in love with Black Market Vintage in Brooklyn. The inspiring material feels rich and endless. BLK MKT Vintage is a NY-based antique/vintage concept shop that specializes in collectibles, cast-offs, and curiosities—all of which represent the richness of Black history and lived experience. Curated by founders Jannah Handy and Kiyanna Stewart, the collection includes found items like vintage literature, vinyl records, clothing, art, housewares/decor, furniture, and other goods.
