Autumn has awakened. There’s something ethereal about this season. The warm colors, the scents, the complex textures, the golden light that grows richer as we transition from summer to winter. There’s no doubt about it—the magic of Fall ignites the creative spirit.
My name is Mia and I am Porter’s Creative Experience Director. Celebrating culture and creativity is integral to the Porter experience. I want to invite you into the room with us and share an inside peek into the seasonal trends, inspiration, and decor that we love.
I’m excited to highlight some of our recent finds that embody that perfect autumnal je ne sais quoi. Some of the treasures we sourced are recent product launches, and others are vintage beauties that complement the season to perfection. Even better? Many of the items come from the wildly talented business owners in our Makers Program.
Inspiration awaits—and you just might find something to FALL for (sorry…I had to).
The Goal: Nesting
Elan Byrd has created a stunning collection of artwork that is a celebration of texture and the organic, natural forms found in nature. Her aesthetic is a representation of her journey of breaking free from the construct of perfection and embracing the beauty of imperfection.
Virginia Sin’s new wall mirror collection is beyond stunning. The free-flowing shape of the Mar Wall Mirror is formed by hand. A 12” round mirror acts as a reflecting pool in this organic form that appears to float on the surface of the wall.
The Inspiration: Black Market Vintage
We have fallen in love with Black Market Vintage in Brooklyn. The inspiring material feels rich and endless. BLK MKT Vintage is a NY-based antique/vintage concept shop that specializes in collectibles, cast-offs, and curiosities—all of which represent the richness of Black history and lived experience. Curated by founders Jannah Handy and Kiyanna Stewart, the collection includes found items like vintage literature, vinyl records, clothing, art, housewares/decor, furniture, and other goods.
The Mood: Cozy AF
Spír Candle Co. is based out of the Ballard neighborhood in Seattle, WA. This is the perfect way to create warmth in your space while also supporting a great cause. Spír exclusively employs underrepresented youth—including those who have had periods of incarceration—to create their candles. Their business positively impacts the Seattle community(and the candles are amazing)! You can purchase them at The Shop by Porter.
‘Tis the season for stretchy pants and carbs! As professional Autumn connoisseurs, we recommend pairing your bagel with an Eastfork ceramic plate for the ultimate cozy-chic vibes. We love Eastfork not only for its beautiful pottery and home goods but also for the company’s commitment to community and the environment as a Certified B Corporation.
